If you are here reading this tutorial, it's either your Oppo device is hard bricked or soft-bricked and you are looking for a way out to revive your Oppo device from the brick state.


Well, I must say you have arrived at the right tutorial because here, we cover, from the beginning to the end; the step by step procedures involved in Unbricking both hard-bricked and soft-bricked Oppo devices.


Before we proceed, and in case you are a novice, it is a good idea we introduce you to the terms and procedures involved.


What is Hard-brick?

Hard-brick is a term commonly used for Android devices that have been rendered useless by means of either wrongly flashed firmware or any of the system partitions there of. Sometimes, a hard-bricked can be caused by software/apps installed or sudden power-outage.


When an Oppo Android device is Hard-bricked, it means the device no longer boot or has any significant signs of life in it. Sometimes, a Hard-bricked Oppo Android device maybe detectable by PC, viberate once the power button is pressed or boot bootloader with blank-screen only.


The root cause of a Hard-bricked Oppo Android device is the Bootloader.

What is Soft-brick?

A soft-bricked, as the name implies, is a simpler form of brick state in Android; and the term refers to a malfunctioning device. These malfunctions are often caused by software defects.


A soft-bricked Oppo Android device can still boot but may not enter Android OS rather, it hangs on boot-logo, un-ending boot-animation, defected radio among others are effects of soft-bricked Oppo Android device.


How to Unbrick A Hard-bricked Oppo Android Device

Remember, since the root cause of a Hard-bricked Oppo Android device is the bootloader, what we would be working on correcting is the bootloader.


We have successfully used different methods to revive and recover different Hard-bricked Oppo Android devices and here, we would be discussing the methods one after another.


NOTE: all the methods discussed here may not work for all Oppo Android device hence, you are advised to try them each one after another.

Unbricking Oppo Android Devices Using QPST QFIL

If you are much familiar with servicing Qualcomm Android Devices most likely, you already know what QPST QFIL is. QFIL, Qualcomm Flash Image Loader is a tool bundled in QPST and is being used to flashing system partitions on most Qualcomm powered Android Devices.


NOTE: this method ONLY works with all Oppo Android Devices powered by Qualcomm.

Prerequisites:


  • Install QPST or QFIL on your PC. Download QPST/QFIL here.
  • Visit the download section here to download your Oppo device Unbrick files.
  • Functional and compatible USB cable
  • Make sure your device battery is at the least 50% charged
  • Your attention and concentration for some minutes

When to Use QFIL Method to Unbrick Oppo Devices

You can use this method to recover your Oppo Android Device if your Oppo Android Device currently;


  • Is only seen in Windows Device Manager as Qualcomm QHS-USB Bulk. Or
  • Qualcomm QDLoader 9008 and other similar modes.
  • Only vibrates and shows blank screen when power button is pressed.
  • Has no signs of live in it but makes sound when connected to PC.

Now, the Steps >


To Unbrick Oppo Android Devices Using QFIL

  1. Visit the download section to download appropriate files for your device. Note: for this method, what you need to download is the QFIL files for your Oppo Android device.
  2. Download QPST QFIL from here and install it on your PC.
  3. Download QDLoader HS-USB drivers from here and install it on your PC also.
  4. Extract the file you downloaded from the step 1 above onto a folder on your PC.
  5. Open/Launch QFIL on your PC. How? See the image below:
  6. Open QFIL -QPST QFIL Flash, Unbrick Qualcomm Device Step 6

  7. Connect your Oppo device to the PC and hold on while the drivers are being installed. If the drivers installation is successful, QPST should list your device as Qualcomm HS-USB QDLoader 9008 then you can proceed. If no sign of drivers installation is seen or noticed go to: Windows Device Manager >> COM Ports...And expand it. If your device is listed as HS-USB QDLoader, HS-USB DLoader 9008 or any other, proceed. But if it is listed as QHS-USB Bulk, here is what to do.
  8. Now, on QFIL, choose Flat Build and for programmer choose the firehose file seen in the QFIL Files folder you extracted in Step 4 above.
  9. Click Load XML and choose rawprogam0.xml and patch0.xml both in the QFIL Files folder in which the Firehose file is located.
  10. Finally, click Download. QFIL should successfully download the files on your Oppo device.
  11. Once QFIL has successfully downloaded the files, the device should reboot automatically following a brief wait time.

Note: If patch0.xml file is not present in your device unbrick files folder, you may proceed anyways by just clicking Cancel at the prompt window.


Fix for QHS-USB Bulk

  1. Disconnect your device from the PC.
  2. Uninstall all related drivers (if installed already).
  3. Restart your PC. And re-install the HS-USB DLoad Drivers again.
  4. Connect your Oppo device to the PC again.
  5. Now, check Windows Device Manager, your device should be listed as either HS-USB QDLoader, HS-USB DLoader 9008 etc.
  6. You may now proceed to QFIL following the steps ahead.

Unbricking Oppo Android Devices Using Live SD Card

Similar to the QFIL method, this live SD Card method of unbricking hard-bricked Oppo Android Devices can unbrick only supported Oppo devices, at least, that's based on the experience we've had using this method thus far. However, though it has only been tested on a very limited Oppo devices it has proven to be an ultimate yet really simpler method of unbricking hard-bricked Oppo Android Devices.


Prerequisites:

  • Get an SD Card. This must be a really fast Class10 or higher SD Card and preferably, the size of your Oppo device internal ROM storage.
  • The loader.img file for your Oppo device. This can be downloaded from your Oppo device Unbrick files folder in our archive.
  • DiskImageRev2 - download DiskImageRev2 from here.
  • Functional and compatible USB cable.
  • Make sure your device battery is at the least 50% charged.
  • Your attention and concentration for some minutes.

When to Use Live SD Card Method to Unbrick Oppo Android Devices

You can use this method to recover your Oppo Android Device if your Oppo Android Device currently;


  • Is only seen in Windows Device Manager as Qualcomm QHS-USB Bulk. Or
  • Qualcomm QDLoader 9008 and other similar modes.
  • Only vibrates and shows blank screen when power button is pressed.
  • Has no signs of live in it but makes sound when connected to PC.

NOTE: the aim of this method is to load/flash bootloader files on your Oppo device so that you may be able to use OTA or other official procedures to load full firmware hence fully unbrick the device.

To Unbrick Oppo Android Devices Using Live SD Card

  1. Download the loader file specific for your Oppo device from the download section and extract it onto a folder on your PC.
  2. Now, format your SD Card. exFAT is preferred. You can use MiniTool to do that.
  3. Download DiskImageRev2 and extract it onto a folder on your PC then, open it.
  4. Slot your SD Card in a card reader and connect it to your PC. The card reader ought to be 3.0 or higher.
  5. Launch DiskImageRev2 on your PC - as Admin preferably.
  6. On launch, DiskImageRev2 should detect and display the drive where your SD Card is connected. If otherwise, browse to select the correct drive.
  7. From DiskImageRev2, browse to the folder where you saved / copied your Oppo device Loader.img file on your PC and select it.
  8. Now, click Write and wait until DiskImageRev2 completes the process.
  9. Once DiskImageRev2 has successfully written the files on the SD Card, your SD Card is now bootable! You may now insert it on your Oppo device and boot the device using its bootloader key combo.

NOTE: the device will boot straight to the recovery/bootloader and from there, while the SD Card is still in the phone, you flash the device full firmware files using the OTA file or via other official methods.
